Good morning, friends, and happy New Year! I hope my absence last Monday was not a discouragement to you; it was to me. Technology has failed me many times lately and the Encouraging Word is no different. I was on vacation last week, yet still I tried to get out to you before the year ended. Technology was not my friend I can assure you. Let’s turn over a new leaf together.
In the nuanced art of management one truism is to expect what you inspect. Whatever you consistently review will become a matter of attention. I’ve experienced this truism enough to believe it with all my heart, yet inspection can have the hint of negativity. Our quote provides a positive way to turn this truism. What you consistently celebrate will also become a consistent focus and attention. So what does this positive turn have to do with our lives in this new year? Everything!
Have you ever thought about your celebrations? Holidays and special days surely dominate the list. Most of our celebratory days are given to us by outside forces; what happens when you take control and begin to celebrate your achievements? Not much if only done once, but if you truly surrender to the celebratory gift you’ll find yourself attempting any achievement to get the celebration. And when you see the power this habit changing gift can have on you your mind might turn to beneficial, quality, life enhancing achievements. Wow!
Studies confirm that New Year’s resolutions are nearly worthless; most are abandoned within weeks. Will celebrations help you achieve? You bet and not just at New Year’s but all years! And then imagine how celebrating the achievements of other persons might help them. It’s mind boggling! Boggle your own mind and begin celebrating your achievements. You have the power to make this the best year of your life, and the most fun, too. And remember to invite me to one or two of your celebrations! Happy New Year, friends!
