Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage.
Good morning, friends! I hope you are warm today. Every time it’s cold like this I wish I had purchased long johns last time! Oh, well…
Think about the life you live for a moment. Consider who you are, where you are, what you are doing, what you experience day in and day out. Think about that life for a moment. Too often you are asked to consider if it’s the life you wanted from the beginning. Would anyone answer “Yes” to that question? Not likely.
I want to ask you a simpler question. Is it the life you wanted to live a year ago? Did you have a thought, an idea, or a dream a year ago that required some change on your part? Looking back, had you taken steps in the direction of that change there are no guarantees you’d be “living the life”, but there are guarantees your life would have opened up in new and exciting ways. So why didn’t you make the change? Chances are it was fear.
I see fear everywhere, in other people and in myself, too. Some fear is legitimate, but most fear I encounter is a straw man. How many straw men did you build to keep you from moving towards your thoughts, ideas, or dreams of a year ago? Chances are, it was many.
Open up your life today. Don’t manufacture dreams, but also don’t kill them either. Let them thrive. Commit yourself to one positive step in that direction. Reevaluate yourself every week or so to measure and correct your progress. I can’t promise you anything exciting, no great successes, but I can promise adventure and a new life. So get going! And don’t look back! And share your successes with me; I’d love to hear about them! Have a great (and safe and warm) week.
